President Ilham Aliyev Participates in the Opening of the “Yeni Səngəçal” Substation

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening ceremony of the 220/110/10 kV “Yeni Səngəçal” substation of “AzərEnerji” JSC. According to AZERTAC, Balababa Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of “AzərEnerji” JSC, briefed the head of state about the substation. It was noted that this large-scale “Green Energy” project envisages the integration of the 240 MW “Şəfəq” Solar Power Plant located in the Jabrayil district into the Azerbaijani power system, as well as supplying the Sangachal terminal with electricity through the country’s unified power system. The project has been implemented within the framework of a cooperation agreement signed between “AzərEnerji” JSC and the bp company. In the first phase, a 330 kV substation built by “AzərEnerji” in the Jabrayil district was inaugurated in May of this year with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev. As the next phase of the project, the 220/110/10 kV “Yeni Səngəçal” substation was constructed to supply the Sangachal terminal with renewable energy. This will enable the shutdown of the gas-fired power plant currently operating at the terminal. In the future, solar energy produced in the Jabrayil district will be delivered to the Sangachal terminal through the national power system.
