President Ilham Aliyev Attends Opening of “Yeni Səngəçal” Substation

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev attended the opening of the 220/110/10 kV “Yeni Səngəçal” substation of “AzərEnerji” JSC. According to AZERTAC, Balababa Rzayev, Chairman of the Board of “AzərEnerji” JSC, briefed the head of state about the substation. It was noted that this large-scale “Green Energy” project involves integrating the 240 MW “Shafaq” Solar Power Plant in the Jabrayil district into Azerbaijan's unified power system and supplying the Sangachal terminal with electricity through the country's unified energy system. The project has been implemented within the framework of a cooperation agreement signed between “AzərEnerji” JSC and bp company. In the first phase, a 330 kV substation built by “AzərEnerji” in the Jabrayil district was inaugurated in May of this year with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev. As the next phase of the project, the 220/110/10 kV “Yeni Səngəçal” substation was constructed to supply the Sangachal terminal with renewable energy. This will enable the shutdown of the gas-fired power plant currently operating at the terminal. In the future, solar power generated in the Jabrayil district will be delivered to the Sangachal terminal through the national power system.
